Just Arrived! Nuss Truck & Equipment has a new range of Volvo Construction Equipment (CE) excavators designed to give customers a competitive edge. These models feature updates promise up to 15% greater fuel efficiency, increased productivity, enhanced safety, and numerous operator-friendly features.
Significant Update in Two Decades
The new series marks the most substantial update to the Volvo excavator lineup in 20 years. The initial launch includes several medium and large excavator models in North America: the ECR145 short swing, EC210, EC230, EC370, EC400, and EC500 crawler excavators. More models will be introduced in the coming months.

Every design change, innovation, and weld were made with their needs in mind,” said Scott Young, head of Region North America, Volvo CE. “Together, these updates will significantly impact their productivity, uptime, employee satisfaction, and overall success.”
Enhanced Efficiency and Productivity
The series boasts a newly optimized electro-hydraulic system and features such as a smart cooling system and engine speed regulation for higher torque at a lower rpm. These enhancements result in a 15% improvement in fuel efficiency compared to previous models.
Improved hydraulics offer better machine control and smoother, more precise movement of the boom, bucket, and other components. The machines feature 10 work mode settings, including two power-specific and four automatic ECO modes. Additionally, a new creep travel mode and boom and arm shock reduction settings provide operators with precise load control and minimize spillage.
“Our customers seek ways to boost productivity and reduce expenses, and these new excavators deliver on both fronts,” said Sejong Ko, product manager for large excavators at Volvo CE. “Fuel is a significant expense, and the improved fuel efficiency will cut costs while also reducing environmental impact.”
Volvo Smart View with Obstacle Detection
Safety has been a priority in the new series, highlighted by the innovative Volvo Smart View with Obstacle Detection. This system offers 360-degree visibility, combining camera technology and radar detection to differentiate between objects and humans, enhancing operator awareness.
Additional lights on the cab, boom, and arm improve safety in low-light conditions.
Operator Comfort and Convenience
Volvo has also upgraded the excavator cab to enhance ease of use and comfort. An improved human-machine interface (HMI) ensures a productive workday. The Volvo Active Control machine control system automates boom and bucket movements, while an advanced electric control joystick increases operator productivity.
Other notable upgrades include:
- Updated seat design
- Improved ventilation
- New footrest support for working on slopes
- Keyless engine start with multiple operator preference settings
- Larger, heated cab side mirror
- In-cab wireless phone charger
- Built-in cooler/heater compartment for food or drinks
- Additional sunscreens and storage areas
- Extra safety railings and relocated footsteps
- New DEF sight gauges and splash guard
The new models feature the latest generation Co-Pilot, with a larger, higher-resolution screen that displays Dig Assist applications such as onboard weighing and in-field design.
Reduced Maintenance
Volvo’s new excavators offer a 50% increase in hydraulic oil life, with service intervals extending to 3,000 hours for regular and 6,000 hours for long-life hydraulic oil.
Volvo excavators are backed by the Volvo Lifetime Frame and Structure Warranty, covering the frame, boom, and arm for the entire initial ownership period. Volvo CE also provides service contracts and financial services for a comprehensive buying or renting experience.
