Nuss Truck & Equipment Highlights Volvo CE Expansion of U.S. Manufacturing

First U.S.-built Volvo excavators and larger wheel loaders roll off the line as Volvo CE significantly expands production in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania
ROCHESTER, Minn. — August 20, 2026 — Nuss Truck & Equipment is proud to highlight a major milestone from Volvo Construction Equipment as the manufacturer begins delivering its first U.S.-built excavators and larger wheel loaders from its Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, facility.
The expansion means more than 50% of Volvo CE machines supplied to North America will now be produced in Shippensburg, bringing production closer to customers and reducing lead times by more than six weeks on newly localized models.
Eleven additional machine models are being added to production at the Pennsylvania facility, bringing Volvo CE’s North American production portfolio to 30 models, including excavators, wheel loaders and compactors.
“This is exciting news for our customers and for the construction equipment industry,” said Bob Nuss, President and CEO of Nuss Truck & Equipment. “More Volvo equipment being built here in the U.S. means a stronger North American supply chain, shorter lead times and greater responsiveness to the contractors and businesses that depend on these machines every day. We’re proud to represent Volvo Construction Equipment and support that investment in American manufacturing.”
Volvo CE has invested more than $1.4 billion in its Shippensburg operations since 2007, including a recent $40 million investment supporting increased production capacity, workforce development and digitalization. More than 750 people are currently employed at the facility.
The company’s 436,000-square-foot assembly and fabrication footprint has been reengineered to include three flexible production lines capable of producing a range of excavators, wheel loaders and compactors, along with additional excavator welding capacity.
“What you see today is manufacturing resilience in action: adapting with purpose and speed to increase capacity and build more machines closer to our customers,” said Scott Young, Head of Region North America for Volvo CE. “This achievement advances Volvo CE’s long-term strategy to strengthen stability and flexibility across the North American market while supporting our employees and the regional economy.”

Strengthening the North American Supply Chain
In addition to expanding U.S. production, Volvo CE announced a goal of increasing business with Pennsylvania-based suppliers by 30% by 2030.
The initiative is part of a broader effort to develop a more localized and resilient supply chain while supporting investment and job creation in the communities surrounding its manufacturing operations.
For Nuss customers, the expansion represents another step toward greater availability and support for Volvo construction equipment throughout the region.
“Nuss has built its business around keeping our customers working,” Nuss added. “Combining Volvo’s continued investment in North American manufacturing with the local sales, parts and service support of our Nuss teams is a win for our customers.”
